Canmore

November 24-29
(Written Saturday, November 30th)

Sunday was a pretty low key day and in the evening we drove to Abbotsford to go swing dancing. It was a blast and I had so much fun! Even with a broken foot I managed to keep up. There was a guy with a broken arm and we danced together. We made quite the pair.

Monday we left bright-and-early to make our way to Canmore, Alberta. Here we are staying at the Hostel Bear. I'm really enjoying myself here. There are lots of people coming through from all over the world and I'm having fun getting to know them.

Tuesday we had a peer mentoring group day. So Leah, Nicole, and I spent the day walking around Canmore, doing some shopping, and trying to find a place to get piercings. That evening we had dinner with our small groups and after that a few of us hung out for a bit.

Wednesday everyone went skiing and snowboarding, but I couldn't go so my dad came and visited me for the day. It was a good day. We had lunch in Canmore then went to Banff to look at some lakes and walk around for a bit. To end the night, Michaela and I stayed up until four in the morning watching 'Gone With The Wind.' Yeah. It was fun.

Thursday was another relaxing chill day and I spent it just hanging out with those who stayed at the hostel. That night, we packed and had dinner at Boston Pizza, did some worship and had some encouragement time for those who are having birthdays over Christmas break. After that a few of us decided we would pull an all-nighter. So we played some games, went out, hung out with some people we met at the hostel. It was an awesome night. We left Canmore at 5:45 A.M. and made our way to Calgary. We dropped people off for flights and dad picked me up from the airport.

I'm really excited for a break. And I'm looking forward to being able to sleep in my own bed and just have my own space for a while. I also cannot wait to spend some time with my friends and family back at home that I haven't seen in what seems like forever. It will be really nice to have some time to reflect on this past semester and be able to process everything that I have seen and learned. One thing I am not looking forward to, however, is being bored or lonely. So I'll have to keep myself busy. Hopefully my foot will get a chance to heal as well, so I can go and hit the slopes before South Africa.
